IH is also known as 'pseudotumor cerebri,' which means 'false brain tumor.' There are two kinds: idiopathic and secondary. Idiopathic IH has no known cause or cure (that's the one I have, go figure). Secondary IH is usually the result of certain medications or conditions. Removal of the cause usually resolves the IH.
Symptoms vary and are often misdiagnosed, usually as migraines. There are medications and surgeries that help relive pain and reduce symptoms, but there is currently no cure for IH. For more information, visit the IH Research Foundation.
